Pathways to Forest Service Careers at the 2017 Society of American Foresters Convention

The Forest Service is hiring student interns and recent graduates through the Pathways program. These paid career opportunities lead to permanent jobs upon successful completion of the program.

There are two ways to apply:

Online at USAJOBSOctober 16-20; or

In person during the 2017 Society of American Foresters Convention, November 15-16

The on-site hiring event takes place at the Double Tree Hotel, 201 Marquette Avenue Northwest, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Application intake is noon-6 p.m. on November 15 and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on November 16. Convention registration is not required to apply.

Positions for Current Students (undergraduates and graduates):

  • Natural Resource Specialist
  • Forester
  • Forestry Technician
  • NEPA Planner
  • Biological Scientist

Positions for Recent Graduates:

  • Natural Resource Specialist

  • Forestry Technician
  • Biological Scientist

The Pathways Internship program offers career development opportunities to students enrolled in qualifying educational programs or institutions. The Pathways Recent Graduate program is tailored toward those who have received a qualifying degree or certificate from an institution of higher education within the previous two years. Veterans whose military service obligations prevent them from applying within this period have up to six years to apply. Interns and recent graduates receive on-the-job training and mentorship. Upon successful completion of the program, student interns and recent graduates may be converted to a permanent position.
