Thanks to a generous grant from Zonta Club of Denver, on June 28, 2017, Women Veterans of Colorado (“WVOC”) volunteers outfitted three rooms in a homeless shelter owned and managed by Volunteers of America*(“VOA”) in Denver, Colorado.
The facility is a former 2 story motel on Colfax Avenue in Denver, Colorado. Typical of an older motel, the rooms have cinder block walls, florescent lighting, linoleum floors and spartan decor. WVOC refurbished three rooms occupied by Women Veterans who have served our country in the US military but have fallen on hard times. As they participate in VOA programs to gain self-sufficiency, living in a room that is nicely decorated, well furnished and comfortable eases anxiety and stress as they regain their footing.
